Pool pumps

Swimming pool pumps filter out dangerous pathogens that can be found in pools that are not well maintained. Pool owners must keep low levels of bacteria and viruses in order to prevent the spread of diseases between swimmers. Chemicals and mechanical filters help with this as well.

There are some common problems associated with pool pumps. One is that the threading carrying water out of the pump can shrink. Pool professionals can replace this fitting for approximately 10 dollars and one hour of labor costs.

Pool owners should also perform regular maintenance on pool pumps. If the pump is not pumping like it normally does, check the skimmer baskets to see if debris has collected. The pump basket should be cleaned and properly positioned.
