Pool maintenance

Pool maintenance consists of more than just keeping the pool clean and making sure the filters and pumps are operating efficiently. Pool owners who live in regions where the temperature reaches freezing in the winter must close their pool to protect the structure. This prevents damage from frozen water.

Performing pool maintenance for winter involves emptying an in ground swimming pool's pipes. Pool owners should also cover their pool to keep leaves and debris from falling in. This prevents the need to dredge the bottom of the structure before adding water in the summer.

Even pool owners who live in temperate regions still have to perform pool maintenance during the winter, but they do not have to close down the pool. Still, steps must be taken to prevent winter sunlight from creating algae. Simply keep a proper pH balance to prevent overgrowth of algae during the off-season.
